More performance painting.
Easter service (2019) was coming up and the same pastor asked me to paint for that service too. This time I made sure to ask how much time I had…”5 minutes, 30 seconds (the right side of the painting) to Chris Tomlin’s song, Love Ran Red”…gulp. Um…ok?
I KNEW God had this!!! Because I sure didn’t!!!
We had the first of two practice sessions-I didn’t get anywhere near finishing the 5’x4’ canvas-the composition was all wrong…something was missing. My part done, I was having a (desperate) chat with the Lord and the next song came on, Leeland’s The Lion and The Lamb (4 minutes, 30 seconds, the left side of the painting). In my heart, He spoke, “Ask to paint during that song too and add a lion and a lamb to the painting.” More impossible (for me) than what I had committed to, but it did help the composition. I asked, it was approved and at the next practice, I still was nowhere completing it.
That’s how I went into the Easter service. Oh, did I mention this would go down in front of 1500 people? And televised 3 times on the local channel? Yep. No pressure…

The painting was purchased that night by a Doctor in the front row, who donated it back to the church.
It was then raffled off (to a person who could never afford it) and is currently in private collection in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
(A dear couple loved this painting so much and were disappointed at not winning the raffle. This led to a painting of the same subject-I gladly painted it for free on one of the practice canvases. Somehow I came out the richer-it hangs in their living room and every time they look at it, they ask God to, “Bless Maggie and whatever she’s working on”-Mind. Blown.)
